God of NOW – Part 4

Today we wrap up our study of the God of now with two final verses from Hebrews. During these studies we’ve showed how God is always current. He is now today, and tomorrow He will be now as well. Today, we look at faith and how our faith should be current, today, now.

Hebrews 10:38 says Now the just shall live by faith…” The main connotation of the word “now” here is a transitional phrase, like , meaning even so; yet it carries with it the underlying concept of time. So we could say the verse this way: ‘today, right now, the just, those made righteous and justified by God, will live by faith.” God’s Word doesn’t help me today if I can’t see that it is for today. But because God’s Word is living, it will continue to feed me, strengthen me, encourage me today and every day. That’s practical because you can rely on it right now, tomorrow, and any other day; and it will always be the same, carrying the same power as when it was first spoken.

Hebrews 11:1 gives us a further lesson in faith for today, now. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” I’ve always liked this particular verse. Many years ago the Lord revealed a deeper meaning when He showed me the first two words by themselves:  now faith. I immediately got a new picture of faith. It wasn’t faith in the future. It wasn’t faith for the sweet bye and bye. It was NOW faith. Faith that is current, right NOW, TODAY. Faith that believes God, believes His Word, and stands on His Word now. Every time you believe what the Word says and activate it in your life, you are using now faith.

So, in relationship to our faith walk with the Lord, today we live by faith that is current, right now, today. And that current faith is the substance of things hoped for, yet it is the evidence of things not yet seen. Faith calls those things which are not as though they are. You can’t do that except with now faith.

I encourage you to continue walking in faith that is current, today, NOW. The more you develop and use your faith, the more exciting your life will be because God is the God of NOW.

“And now, brethren, I commend you to God,
and to the word of His
Grace, which is able to
build you up and give you an inheritance….”
Acts 20:32
