Hiking Through Life with the Psalmist Part 3

The Valleys

Some trails lead through valleys and level ground. Here I look for the places for refreshing. Valley hikes are easier. The miles clip by faster and the scenery is more enjoyable because I can look around more. Even the creeks and streams slow down.

He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.
Psalm 104:10

Yet even in the valleys, there could be shadows that lurk. Death may come along the life’s trail. Even then, the Psalmist said, “I will not fear.” The hike may not always be fun, but there are better times ahead—just around the bend.

Thankfully, only a couple of times we faced dangerous trails. My wife slipped on a snow covered boulder in the center of a rushing stream and fell on her back. God protected her. She wasn’t injured. Moreover, she didn’t get wet. Course we have had black bears cross our path, but they moved on after a strong rebuke from my wife.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Psalm 23:4
