Life-Giving Words

The words you read and hear are either living-giving or they aren’t. We’ve mentioned before that words are containers of power and set the course of your day and your life. There’s an interesting verse in John 6:63 that says:

“The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”

The words that Jesus speaks are not only food for your inner spirit man, but they are also life to your physical body. Why is that important today as this New Year begins? Because today you need words of life that will strengthen, restore, revive, and motivate you.

How can you find these words? They’re in God’s Word. You won’t hear and receive the words of life from Jesus if you don’t read His Word, the Bible. It’s more than a nice book, more than a spiritual manual, more than some great words. You can read it and accumulate knowledge, and that’s okay in itself but it won’t give you what you truly need—life-giving words and communion with Jesus.

He said His words are life. His words are spirit and go will into your spirit man and infuse, strengthen, and restore. His words are life—they will produce what He says. You can build your relationship with the Lord each time you read and study His Word. More than reading His Word to fulfill a mandate, Jesus wants to speak to you through His Word. He wants to commune with you. He wants to speak to you. And, He will.

If your life depended on what you heard and read, would you have enough life-giving words from God’s Word to sustain and carry you through? God’s Word is life-giving. Joseph Prince adds this thought: God wants to be your bread of life. He wants to be your water of life. Bread and water are of no benefit to you if you don’t consume them.

Dig into the Word today and discover how God will speak to you. The journey ahead is exciting when you factor in God’s life-giving words activated in your life.
