How will you know what your benefits are if you don’t read the Manual? The question could be asked of any number of employees at any number of middle-to-large size companies. It could also be asked of you regarding your life as a believer, a follower of Jesus.
Have you read ‘the manual’—the Bible—to find out what benefits it holds for you; to learn what God has provided for you through Jesus? Join me this week as we look closer at what the Word says, and what it will do for you. Hey, you’ll need to get your manual out and then open it to Psalm 19. Today we’ll look specifically at the first part of verse 7:
“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul:
the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.”
God’s manual, His Word, gives us instructions on living the life He has provided for us. His Word lights our way through this dark world (Psalm 119:105). His Word searches our hearts and shows us where change is needed (Psalm 139:23).
The Law of the Lord is God’s instructions, His spoken word (Isaiah 45:23; Isaiah 55:11). David, the writer of the book of Psalms, says that the law of God is perfect. What God says is complete, entire, full and true. Nothing else needs to be added to it. Only in His Word will you find life and peace and joy.
His law, the Word of God, has the power to convert your soul, the ability to deliver, change, refresh, and cause you to return to the starting point with Him. As you read God’s Word, it will change you if you allow it to. What does it convert? Your soul—your heart and mind, your thinking.
Don’t look at God’s Word as old, outdated, restrictive. It’s God’s instructions for living the abundant life here on earth that He has for you. It’s full of His goodness and blessings in abundance. Continue reading and studying his Word and let it make adjustments in your heart and mind today.
