The Dispensation of Grace

“1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, 2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: 3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, 4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)” Ephesians 3:1-4

Here Paul explains how he became the Apostle of Grace and how the Gentiles were now receiving God’s grace.

Paul received this knowledge and understanding by revelation. In Galatians 1:12 Paul says, “For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. This was the mystery of Christ, which in ages past was not fully revealed. This was the Gospel, which came into being through Jesus. The Old Covenant pointed to it, but the New Covenant revealed it.

This was the dispensation of Grace. God apprehended Paul on the road to Damascus as  the one who would deliver this good news to the nations. God commissioned Paul by Christ as the steward of the mystery of Grace. This is why more than even the original disciples of Jesus, Paul would receive this by direct revelation without any biases and hindrances to the knowledge and understanding of this most important doctrine.

Even Peter recognized the revelation that Paul had received. “And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.” (2 Peter 3:15-16)

Many today wrest the message of grace without law into doctrines not in scripture. The Gentiles accepted it much easier as they hadn’t been under the Law. Today God is once again revealing the message of Grace to many who have ears to hear. Read the letters of Paul to get a clear revelation of Grace.
