A Look at Psalm 19 – Part 6

open bible with textIn our last study of Psalm 19 today, we’re looking at verse 11. God’s Word is FULL of His benefits, His blessings for His children – that’s you and I! If we don’t understand what is ours as born-again children of God, how can we enjoy what He’s given us?

In verse 11 it is still talking about the Word of God, and says

“More by them is thy servant warned, and
in
keeping them there is great reward.”

God’s Word provides direction and guidance as we walk through this life. It provides food and nourishment to our spirits. It gives us joy, peace, deliverance and protection. It also gives us warnings and tells us what to stay away from.

By God’s Word we are warned, admonished, taught. Just as a parent teaches their child what is good to do and what is not good to do, so God does for us through His Word. You may tell your child as they reach for the fire on the stove, “don’t do that or you’ll get burned”. If they listen to your words, they’ve been warned and did what you told them. If they don’t, they learn that what you said was true and it was for their good and protection.

God’s Word warns us. It gives us guidance on what is good to do and what is not good to do, and the consequences if we disobey. In keeping His Word, we must observe to do what it says. When we follow the Word, it becomes a hedge around us, guarding us. Remember it is God’s words, and they carry life, not death and destruction.

When we follow the Word, we have much more peace, security and safety; and God promises rewards. He a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). When you are hungry for more of what God has for you, He will fill you to overflowing (Isaiah 58:11). He won’t give you a stone instead of bread. He will satisfy you like nothing else or no one else can.

When you follow God’s Word, keeping it, there is abundant blessings, abundant reward because, after all, God is a blesser, and He desires to bless you in ways you can’t even comprehend. Talk about rewards – He’s got the best benefits ever!

Learn to delight in God’s Word in a deeper way this year. Learn more about ALL that He has provided for you. Keep His Word so you receive direction and guidance each day, and then be ready for His blessings to manifest in your life.
