Confidence in God’s Grace

IMG_4061-wideThe other day we looked at Philippians 1:6 and saw that God hasn’t left any loose ends in His provision for man’s spiritual well-being. I want to look a little closer at that verse today and give you a broader picture of God’s Love and Grace.

Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Paul starts out by saying he is confident. Why is he confident? Because he personally experienced God’s Grace and Love. Through his life-changing experience on the road to Damascus, he knew God’s work was a sure thing. He believed and trusted the Lord. He was persuaded that what God said was forever true. God Word changed Paul. Because of this confidence, Paul also knew without any doubt that God began a good work. It’s interesting that he used the word “good” work. When God created everything that is (Genesis 1), He said it was GOOD. Not just so-so, but good; complete, lacking nothing.

Paul shared this so that you and I can see God’s good work. He states clearly that it is God who has started a good work in your life. He has already commenced His good work in you! That’s an awesome truth. Then he uses the phrase “will perform it” which gives the meaning that it will be accomplished. It will be complete. It will be finished. There is such confidence and encouragement in these three words. God will perform it. God will do what He promises to do. He is trustworthy. You can stand on His Word because He backs it up and always fulfills what He says.

Not only will He perform His Word, but He will keep performing it until Jesus returns and we are ushered into eternity, forever in His presence. There is no time-limit on God’s Word. It’s eternally set in Heaven. What He says in His Word, He will do. He fulfills His promises.

Spend time meditating on this verse today, and be confident of God’s Love and Grace that is working in your life today!
