Going Passed the Obstacles

crossing stream on rocks-wideThere’s been a few times on our hiking experiences where we have encountered a small stream only to discover that to continue on the trail we must cross over the stream. I haven’t always like doing that because if there aren’t enough large rocks to step on, I end up in the water. Then there is the other obstacle of slippery rocks. Needless to say, I haven’t always done well in crossing streams without getting wet; BUT I did cross over.

It doesn’t matter if you’re out hiking through the woods or just walking through everyday life. You’ll encounter obstacles—you know, those streams that you’ll have to cross over.

When you do, follow Jesus’ example in Mark 4:34:

On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them,
“Let us cross over to the other side.”

Notice that Jesus didn’t say ‘if the storm and waves aren’t too bad, we’ll probably go ahead and cross’. He said “Let US CROSS OVER to the other side.” Jesus intended to get to the other side of the lake and He wasn’t about to be deterred by any obstacle in His way. The disciples, on the other hand, as soon as they saw the wind and waves, were frightened. Jesus had just told them they were crossing over to the other side.

You may encounter times when you face giant waves and heavy winds of adversity, but Jesus will enable you to get through them, past them, and have victory. Keep your eyes on Him and your faith on His promises. He is always with you and in Him you are more than a conqueror—your victory is in sight.
