Forget Not – Part 1

Dont Forget pic-wideHow easy it is for us human beings to forget things. We rush into a Mall after parking in the multi-level parking garage, and when we finish shopping we’ve forgotten where we’ve parked. We come home from work and hurriedly throw our keys on the table or a counter. Then before you know it the family covers the keys with book bags, MP3 players, mail, and even empty cereal boxes. Meanwhile, after you’ve finished dinner preparations and you’re ready to head out to an important meeting, you forget where you left your keys. Some days there are too many things vying for attention in our lives that it’s just hard to remember anything.

No matter what is going on in your daily life, it’s important not to forget what God has promised in His Word. Remembering the Word is vital to your spiritual walk and a strong faith. So, what are not to forget? God was very clear to His people—they weren’t to forget His works or His Word (keep His commandments) – Psalms 78:7.

We all know that events get fuzzy in your memory when you don’t keep remembering, especially events when you were younger.  It’s good to remember; but in your remembering, don’t concentrate on the bad things. The Apostle Paul says to forget the past and move forward (Philippians 3:13). Remember the good things that God has done for you. Recalling those things will strengthen your faith.

Don’t forget that God loves you (John 3:16), that His plans for you are awesome and good (Jeremiah 29:11). Don’t forget what He has provided for you – not only the free gift of eternal salvation but all the benefits provided in your salvation (Psalm 103:2)—forgiveness, healing, deliverance, mercy, grace, provision, peace, and so much more.

It might be helpful to make a list of these things…..you know, just so you don’t forget God’s faithfulness and goodness in your life.
