How Deep Is Deep?

deep waters pic-1-wide

I’m sure you would agree that the ocean is pretty deep. Various lakes in North America can stake claim to their deepest parts—Crater Lake tops the deepest followed by Lake Chelan and then Lake Superior in the United States), but they fall short of the deepest ocean in the world. The deepest ocean is the Pacific Ocean and between Japan and New Guinea is found the Marianas Trench, some 7 miles deep (36,200 feet) and the lowest known point in the Earth.

With the help of sounding equipment even as early as the mid-1800’s and more recent sonar capabilities, man endeavors to discover more about the ocean’s depth and all that it includes. Perhaps in time man will come close to knowing all that God has created, but I’m inclined to think not. I don’t believe we can totally measure, weigh, and calculate everything about the God of Heaven, but please understand what I’m saying. I believe there’s so much more to our God than our human minds can understand. I think once we’ve learned as much as our human minds can understand, we still don’t know all that there is to know. God is infinite. His creation is infinite, even when measuring the deepest ocean.

Just as man can’t totally grasp the profoundness of the ocean’s depth, man remains limited in truly understanding the depth of God’s love from his humanness. You can’t understand spiritual things from a human, intellectual knowledge. It’s like oil and water; they don’t mix. Only understanding God from an intellectual standpoint will leave you void of experiencing God personally. That is not to say man can’t experience God’s love. God’s love is available to anyone who will receive it. God’s love is immeasurable. It is beyond anything and everything we know intellectually.

God’s love has been shed abroad in our hearts. You can’t understand the depth of God’s love until you have a heart-change. When you receive God’s personal love for you, you’ll see the multiple facets of His great love for you.

Don’t debate or reason or think away God’s love. As soon as you embrace God’s love, you’ll start experiencing just how deep and wonderful it is.
