Pressure or Power?

“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed;
we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken;
cast down, but not destroyed.”
2 Corinthians 4:8-9

When you’re in a bind, what do you do? When pressure and situations build up around you, how do you handle it? Hey, we’ve all been there and we might even be there right now, today.  Look again the lead-in scripture, 2 Corinthians 4:8-9. Paul ought to know what he was talking about because he had personally experienced being troubled on every side, being perplexed, persecuted, and cast down—YET he testified that he was not distressed, in despair, forsaken, or even destroyed through those situations. How did he get through that? Paul knew the power of God.

You can know God’s power when you know His Word. But it’s not enough just to know that the Word will help you. You are the deciding factor in activating it in your life. The more you allow God’s Word to rule and reign  is IN you, the less stress will overrule you. The Word will encourage and strengthen you as nothing else can because it is alive with God’s power.

Overcome the pressure and stress you face by taking the first step and readjust your focus. Rather than looking internally to figure things out on your own, go to the Word. Don’t concentrate on the negatives going on around you, concentrate on the power of God’s Word working in you. Allow God’s Word to rule and reign in your life, then you can rest in confidence assurance (faith in action) that God is bringing you through the difficulties. God’s power is available. Turn the pressures you face into opportunities of experiencing God’s manifested power working in your life.
