The 3 P’s

“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed;
we are perplexed, but not in despair;

Persecuted, but not forsaken;

cast down, but not destroyed.”
2 Corinthians 4:8-9

The other day we looked at the importance of bringing God’s power into our lives during times of stress and pressure. To follow-up on that, here are some practical suggestions for getting through stress-filled, everyday life, and some encouraging scriptures.

When the pressure is on, remember  these 3 P’s:  PRAYER, PRIORITIZE, PATIENCE.

Prayer Prayer is simply talking to God about your needs, your desires, your problems. But remember that it is a 2-way street, so be sure and listen for His direction before you run ahead of Him. Always bring God onto the scene so you can have His wisdom and direction. Calm your emotions and don’t let them lead you.

PrioritizeDetermine today that in every situation you encounter you will draw on the Word for wisdom, direction, strength, and encouragement. As you focus on God’s Word, you’ll receive clarity and wisdom in how to handle the demands. Trying to handle things on your own, apart from God’s direction is very impractical and will only lead you into further frustration. Draw on God’s Word first, then you’ll be able to break down the everyday demands placed on you into smaller, workable segments. Don’t try to handle everything all at once, otherwise you’ll run around in circles creating a lot of dust and debris, and end up accomplishing nothing but more work and stress. Believe that the Lord is working

Patience – Recognize that everything won’t last forever, and that soon “this too shall pass”. Take a deep breath. Be willing to take it one day at a time. Don’t borrow from tomorrow because that will only add to the weight of what you feel today. Be confident that the Lord is working in your midst, and He’ll bring you through it all.

Take these verses each day as your prescription for conquering pressures and walking in peace and victory each day. God’s ability and power in you will enable you to walk in peace, rest, and victory through life!

  • John 16:33“These things I have spoken to you that in me you will have peace. In the world you will have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
  • Philippians 4:4-7“Be anxious for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. AND the peace of God, which passes all human understanding shall keep (guard) your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
  • 2 Timothy 1:7 – “For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
  • Colossians 2:6-7“as you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him; Rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith…”
  • Philippians 1:6“Being confident of this very thing, that He that hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
  • Hebrews 11:1“…faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen.”
