Are You Persuaded?

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

To persuade means to convince by argument. When a person accepts Jesus as Lord, He is persuaded that the claims of Jesus are true and he is willing to stake his life on it.

Persuasion come is all kind of forms. The salesperson is persuading you to buy his product. Debate is a form of persuasion. The devil is trying to persuade people to believe a lie. Based on the effectiveness of the persuasion we make a choice.

In this passage, Paul is persuaded that nothing can separate us from the love of God. He understood the infinite love of God and how there was no possibility that God could alter His love. We need to be fully persuaded about His boundless, borderless, and never-changing love.

In Acts 26:28 it tells us that some people will make the wrong choice. “Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.” King Agrippa was almost persuaded, but it wasn’t enough. He heard the facts from Paul. He heard the persuasive arguments from Paul. He chose not to believe.

Abraham was different. “And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” (Romans 4:21) Abraham was persuaded that what God said was true and would come to pass. God said Abraham would have a son, and he did.

Are you fully persuaded that what God says in His Word He will perform? Are you persuaded that God’s Word is 100% true? We receive the convincing arguments of the Word. His Word is truth.
