Encounters with the Holy Spirit

IMG_4599-wide

God’s presence and power is all around us, but most of the time we really don’t recognize it—we don’t recognize Him in our midst. Why is that? Because most of the time we allow the noise of the world to drown out His presence in our lives. If you don’t agree, just look at your teenagers ignoring instructions told to them while they concentrate on other things. We adults aren’t any different, are we? We do the same thing in blocking the Holy Spirit who wants to speak to us and show us the power of God. We need to open our heart, study the Word, and invite the Holy Spirit into our “space” each day.

We know and understand the world through our five (5) senses: sight, touch, smell, taste, and hearing. God doesn’t violate the law of physical senses because He established them, and He can minister to us through our five senses. The promise of God in the form of the Holy Spirit now can reside in you when you know Jesus and permit Him to work in your life (John 14:26, 1 Corinthians 2:13, Romans 15:16).

When the power of the Holy Spirit was released in Acts 2, He came in power, thus engaging the physical senses of the believers. He’s no different today because He can’t change. He will always minister to us in our world and many times through our senses. You can hear Him speak to you and direct you. You can smell His presence as if you’re walking in a garden of sweet-smelling roses. You can experience His touch; feel His love washing over you and through you, enveloping you in God’s love. However He comes into your world, He will always direct you to Jesus and He will always encourage you. He’s your teacher, leading you into deeper things in the Word of God. He’s your comforter, always encouraging and strengthening you. He’s God in you.

The Holy Spirit wants to dwell and live BIG in you. Invite Him into your day, today. He’ll live BIG in you and you’ll begin to experience His reality in greater ways in your life.
