No Condemnation

“8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” Romans 8:8-9

I think this verse answers many questions concerning the flesh. Verses like “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1)

Does this mean that I can be under condemnation? Is there a catch to it? I’ve heard pastor’s add the last part just to put people under condemnation or the possibility of it.

The fact is there is no condemnation for those who have accepted Jesus as their savior. Either God put all condemnation on Jesus or He didn’t. Well, He did. Therefore, there is no condemnation. That’s what Jesus said to the woman caught in adultery. No condemnation.

So what about the last part? Is there condemnation for some people who walk after the flesh? Who are the ones walking in the Spirit? Well, Romans 8:8-9 spells it out clearly. You are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if the Spirit dwells in you. If you don’t have the Spirit you are not His. You are one who walks in the flesh. You can’t do both.

Therefore, there is no condemnation for those who have the Spirit of God within them. Condemnation is on those who do not have the Spirit of God with in them. Those who walk in the flesh don’t have the Spirit, thus works of flesh. But those who have the Spirit walk in the Spirit and thus the fruit of the Spirit is manifest in them.

Only the devil will try to condemn you. In Christ, there is no condemnation—none—ever.
