Who Can Accuse Us?

Downtown Gatlingburg 2007

Downtown Gatlingburg 2007

33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” Romans 8:33-34

Romans 8 is filled with treasure. Here are more golden nuggets.

Who can bring up a charge or an accusation against God’s chosen? Someone, especially the scribes and Pharisees were always accusing Jesus of something. “Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.” (Luke 11:54)

Jesus went to the Cross to take away the accusations. Jesus is the one who provided our justification. The law is always trying to accuse us. If you are living under the law, then the law is accusing you. Thou shalt not. If you do, you are under condemnation.

The devil is the accuser who is bringing accusations against you. If you are doing well, then he’ll accuse you of not doing well enough. If you are happy, then you aren’t happy enough. No matter what you do good or bad, he’s there to accuse you.

The same with condemnation. Who can condemn you? The law does. People who are living under the law will try to condemn you. You shouldn’t do that. Or you are not living the 10 commandment. Jesus already pointed out that you can’t. That’s why Jesus died and yes, rose again, and he’s making intercession for you.

He’s on your side. He’s saying that’s law, and you are under grace. When the accusations come, Jesus says, I already was accused and took that to the Cross, you are free.

“And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.” (Revelation 12:10)
