Defeats Don’t Determine Theology

rainbow pic-1

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you,

plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11

Here’s an interesting thought:  You must determine that you will never let defeat determine your theology. — Rick Renner (Minister, Teacher, Author, Pastor of Moscow Good News Church, Moscow, Russia)

Too many times believers let events or situations defeat them in their spiritual walk. We all face difficulties in our lives but we must learn how to rise above the debilitating ones with our feet firmly planted in God’s Word and stand victorious. Often times nominal Christians will allow their theology to be swayed by defeating situations. This ought not to be. I like the way Rick Renner puts it: “God is bigger than your situation. Don’t let failure or discouragement talk you into believing that God is not a good God. Even if your child isn’t healed as quickly as you want, that doesn’t change the fact that God is a good God who never gives sickness to people and always wants to heal. Even if your finances are still in a horrible mess, that doesn’t mean He has decided not to help you climb out of that trap. So put a stake in the ground and declare, ‘This is the truth, regardless of my present experience!’”

Get grounded in God’s Word. Know the truth of what God has said. Learn WHO your God is. When you know what the Word says, you’ll not be inclined to believe something else about God. A bad situation won’t be able to change your stand. God has given you everything that you’ll need to live a truly joyous, victorious, and overcoming life when you follow His instructions.

Regardless of your current experience or your past experience, base your spiritual life on the truth of God’s Word. God hasn’t changed in what He spoke. He hasn’t changed in His plans for you. He hasn’t changed at all because He can’t change—it’s not in His nature (Malachi 3:6). It is, however, in our nature to change and to be changed.

Embrace God’s Word as ultimate truth for every decision you make today and for all your coming days. Don’t let defeat change the power of God’s Word in your life. Jesus came to give you an abundant life, a life overflowing with His goodness, His love, and His grace. Step into all that He has for you today and don’t let your theology be changed or compromised from the truth of God’s Word and who He is!
