Are You Listening?

Are you listening to God pic-wide
“…the Word of the Lord came to Ezekiel the Priest…
There the hand of the Lord was upon Him.”
Ezekiel 1:3

Do you ever have times when you really need to hear from God, when you need His guidance and direction, His wisdom for a certain situation you face? You’re not alone by any means. Each of us need to hear from God. If we fail to hear from God, we won’t have His wisdom for what lies ahead of us. We won’t know what He wants us to do. How do you hear from God?

God speaks to you and me today; in fact, God hasn’t finished speaking since he first spoke the world and universe into existence. He’s a gentleman so He won’t invade your space if you don’t want Him to. He comes at your invitation, and desires to fellowship with you-spend time with you. The problem most of us have is that we’re too busy. We allow the events in our lives and in this world to block out time with our Creator, our God, our Lord.

The prophet, Elijah, had the same problem. God provided lots of “noise” with an earthquake and a fire; but then He spoke in a still small voice (1 Kings 19:11-13). Many times the Lord will pop a particular thought into your mind or a pertinent scripture, exactly what you need at the moment. That’s God’s still small voice speaking to you.

Young Samuel in the Old Testament learned to hear from God as he attended Eli, the High Priest. What he learned at Eli’s feet prepared him for God’s plan for his life. (1 Samuel 3)

Ezekiel had a profound change in his life when he heard God speak to him. In fact, in the midst of exile, in Babylon, Ezekiel provides us with a glimpse into God’s desire for relationship with His people. Ezekiel heard God speak and it changed his entire life and. (Ezekiel 1:3)

Has God’s Word changed your life? Do you hear God speaking to you each time you open His Word? He’s ready to share His love and life with you through His Word. It is full of life. It is full of wisdom, peace, joy, healing, and all that God is and has for you. Take time today to read the Word, and allow God to speak to you.

We’ll be digging further into the Word in the days ahead and it is important that we allow the Lord to speak to us and reveal His Word in power to us. Prepare yourself as you read God’s Word, and then say as Samuel did:  Speak, your servant is listening.”
