And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7

This is an age when peace seems missing. We are involved in wars all over the world. Countries are raising their ugly heads and rattling their sabers. Road rage, personal assaults, hatred, division, and uncompromising opinion are more evident today than ever. No wonder so many people are depressed and worried.

We, however, don’t have to live in a state of chaos and unrest. We know the peace of God—the Prince of Peace. This peace, Paul says, passes human understanding. This peace is higher or more superior than worldly peace. The world searched for a measure of peace. The peace of God is without measure. We can’t comprehend or understand it with our intellect or thinking. We only know it by our spirit and by faith.

I say by faith because we can’t see peace. Sometimes we can see the effects of peace. We don’t feel it, but we feel the results of it. We know by faith in the Word that it is keeping or a better word is guarding like a security guard. It is working night and day to keep our hearts and minds in a state of peace.

This is one of the “through Christ Jesus” gifts of grace. We are as Jesus is in this world. (1 John 4:17) Jesus is at peace. We are at peace through Him. The peace of God is constantly monitoring our hearts and minds. It sounds an alarm in our spirits when there is an attack on our peace. It’s then we remind ourselves that the peace of God is guarding me and I will not allow depressing thoughts, or words interrupt my peace.

I may not be able to explain it but I know the peace of God is with me at all times and will not allow any confusion or depression into my life.
