PSALM 119:41-48

Hebrew UVW-Vav(Vav or Waw)

41 Let your steadfast love come to me, O Lord, your salvation
according to your promise;

then shall I have an answer for him who taunts me, for I trust in your word.
43 And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth,
for my hope is in your rules.
44 I will keep your law continually, forever and ever,
and I shall walk in a wide place, for I have sought your precepts.
I will also speak of your testimonies before kings and shall not be put to shame,
for I find my delight in your commandments, which I love.
I will lift up my hands toward your commandments, which I love,
and I will meditate on your statutes.

Psalm 119:41-48, ESV

The other day we only got through verse 41 in this particular stanza, but today as we look at verses 41-48 we’ll continue to see the theme of the Psalmist’s love for the Word of God. We understood last time that when you receive a revelation of God’s love in your life, His Word will become richer and deeper in your life.

It’s interesting in these verses that the Psalmist depends on God’s Word in answering those who question his motives and beliefs, those who make fun of him, and even those who want to shame him. It’s not a surprise that the world makes fun of Christians. They taunt believers. They may even taunt you, trying to get you to back down on your beliefs. The world tries to mold you into their way of thinking and acting. But the world is at enmity with God—they are in opposition to God’s rule and reign, His ways, His Word—because they don’t know the love of God.

The Psalmist declares that as he trusts in the Lord and His Word, he’ll have the answer he needs when people question him. He’ll have supernatural wisdom to know what to say and when to say it. And he says that even when he shares his testimony before kings and those in authority, he’ll have a boldness and strength in declaring God’s Word.

I trust you find great encouragement and strength in these verses as you continue to make a stand for the Lord and God’s Word in your life. God increases your path and pathway as you honor and follow His Word (vs. 45). Stand strong in the Lord and the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10, 11-18). YOU are more than a conqueror because of Him who loves you (Romans 8:37).
