Every Believer Is An Heir

And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. Romans 8:17

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” (Romans 5:1-2)

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” (John 1:12)

If children. Not everyone is a child of God. This does not teach universal salvation. He is not talking about physical children. He is talking about those who have the Spirit of God within and bearing witness with our spirits. The inheritance is for the children only.

In Roman law, every child got an equal portion in the inheritance. That wasn’t true for the children of Israel where the firstborn got double. But all the children are inheritors.

All children are heirs. It’s not for only the Christians who are obedient or doing good works. Some Christians do not see themselves as children with an inheritance. However, every believer is an heir. He has a future. He is sealed with a promise. He has the earnest of the Holy Spirit to prove his sonship.

If you are a child of God, you are an heir. No one can take that away from you.
