God’s Word Will Speak

“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you,
ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”
John 15:7

You’ve probably read this scripture many times, and you may have even said, “Yes, I need to learn to abide in Christ.” But did you assimilate the next six (6) words?  “…and my words abide in you. These two phrases go together and really can’t be separated. They are the basis and foundation for the rest of what Jesus said. IF you’re abiding in Him, and His Words are abiding IN you, then you’ll be able to ask for answers to prayer and He will answer. It’s a conditional phrase, but before you can start asking comes the abiding and the Word taking up residency in your heart, mind, and life.

Why is that so necessary? Without knowledge of God’s Word and His promises, how can you know what He’ll do even if you seek Him? When God’s words live in you, they’ll bring life because His words are full of life and power. God spoke the universe, the world, and everything into existence by His words. He operated in faith when He spoke them. He didn’t say ‘light I hope you’ll come about when I finish talking’. He said ‘light be’, and light had no other alternative but to come forth and be.

That’s the power of the Word of God abiding in you. When you know what God’s Word says about your health, healing, salvation, prosperity, and deliverance, you can speak His Word forth in confident expectation that you will get the same results. That’s the power of His Words abiding in you.

Gloria Copeland says that the Word that is abiding in you is the Word that talks to you. The more you take in of God’s Word, the more it will talk to you, building your faith, reminding you of God’s love, His promises, His faithfulness. Let God’s Word talk to you in a greater degree by abiding in it.
