In All Things

gears working together-2

“And we know that in all things God works together for
the good of those who love him, who have been called
according to His purpose.”
Romans 8:28

How often have you heard someone repeat this verse? Perhaps you’ve even quoted it a time or two, especially when going through a particular situation. Sometimes I think we quote scripture somewhat flippantly when we’re in a tight spot. That isn’t to say we speak it derogatorily. But in this particular verse I see more than an over-all theme of God’s infinite working in my life.

Paul is making a positive statement here that should cause us to sit up and take notice, and then get excited. He says we who are in Christ Jesus, who have been saved through faith in the risen Christ, have a knowing that in every aspect of our life God is always working for our good. Would God work anything less than our good? Of course not. He wants our lives to be full, rich, good, and exceeding abundantly. So even in the not-so-good things, He is still at work bringing His good plans forth.

It’s interesting when you look at the Greek meaning of several words in this scripture, you’ll get a bigger picture of what God is doing right now in your life. The Greek word “all” basically means ALL, and it signifies “wholly, together, in all ways, in all things”. Put that together with the meaning of the words ‘work together’ which in Greek is synergeō, from which we get our English word synergy—the interaction and working together.

No matter WHAT is going on in your life, from the smallest detail to the biggest, God continues His interaction in your life in working all things wholly, in all ways together that will bring you to the place of His best for you.

Yes, God is at work in you and me right now, in every aspect, every detail, working together the things in our lives that will be good and full of His best. That’s something to get excited about today.
