Who Dare Condemn Us

Blue Ridge Parkway

Blue Ridge Parkway

“Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” Romans 8:34

Paul asks another question. Who can condemn you? It certainly isn’t God who justifies and Jesus who died and rose for you. Justified and condemnation are opposites. They can’t be done at the same time.

“16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” (John 3:16-19)

We have two choices, life or death, living or perishing, justification or condemnation. The believer choses life. Life in Christ means no condemnation. The condemnation of our sins is removed. No one can condemn us. It certainly isn’t Jesus who died, rose again, and sits at the right hand of God making intercession for us. He did all that to remove the condemnation of the law from us.

There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ. Once we understand that if we feel any condemnation, it isn’t God or Jesus. Once we have that established, we don’t accept condemnation from anyone. Some preachers are preachers of condemnation. The unbeliever is condemned already. The elect are no longer condemned.

Allow that to sink in. You are not condemned. God has forgiven your sins and cast them into the sea. No one can bring any condemnation. Rest in the finished work of Jesus. Jesus is at the right hand of God. We are with him in heavenly places far above any condemnation. There is no condemnation.
