Seeing God’s Goodness

Colorful clouds 2 in MA-wide

“What would have become of me, had I not
believed to see the Lord’s goodness
in the land of the living!”

Psalm 27:13 (Amplified Bible)

Have you considered that this verse shows you how faith enables you to use your imagination? Did you know that your imagination plays a big role in your spiritual life? You might not have considered that before, but it’s true. God’s provided a way for us to see what isn’t materially in front of us: by faith using our imagination. King David used his imagination when, in faith he made the declarative statement of verse 13—had I not believed to see… Also, Abraham in faith used his imagination when he simply believed God’s promise (Romans 4:17-21) for a son, an heir—“and called those things which be not as though they were.”

You can let your imagination run amuck and not connect with faith but then you’ll only dwell on the negative, fearful things. You can, however, change your imagination by focusing your thinking on the truth of God’s Word. The more on purpose you think on or meditate on God’s Word and what He has already provided to you, faith will grow and the more your imagination will grow in God’s goodness and grace.

David used his God-given imagination to believe and SEE beyond what his physical senses told him at the moment, especially when he was in desperation. He used his imagination to SEE God’s goodness in the land of the living, not after he died. He expressed his faith and trust in believing that God would deliver him, would provide for him, and that through Him, he would be victorious.

Allow your imagination to SEE beyond your circumstances today by faith and expect to see God’s faithfulness, His goodness in the land of the living.
