Understanding Condemnation – Part 5

williamsburg

Some people can believe in the saving work of Jesus, but think they are condemned when they do something wrong. We needed a savior to save us, and a savior that would free us from the condemnation of doing something wrong. We aren’t condemned for not reading the Bible enough or praying and fasting enough. We couldn’t keep the law before we were saved. Can we now keep the law? No. We have the law written on our hearts. We don’t sin because we are free to sin. We know that sin leads to a path that opens us to Satan’s program of killing, stealing and destroying. We have a choice.

If we see the last phrase of walking in the flesh as not fulfilling all the law, then we are back under the law. Then we are back to believing we are always under God’s condemning scrutiny, where He’s always standing over us with a ball bat to judge us. We are no better than those under the law.

There is no condemnation for those “in Christ.” That’s a positional place, “that glorious place God has given the believer.” The Greek word “en” is a primary preposition denoting fixed position. There are no questions. You are either “in” or not. You’re “in” by grace through faith. When you’re “in”, there is no more condemnation from God ever or can there ever be. Any condemnation you feel comes from Satan or yourself. It does not come from God. He sees you “in Christ.” When He looks at you, He sees Jesus.

We must understand and believe this important doctrine. It frees us to walk in the liberty.Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” (Galatians 5:1) We are free to follow the commandment of Jesus to love. Love is the criteria for all our life. When we know we are free from condemnation, we can attempt to love others. If we fail, we know we aren’t condemned. Jesus is there always to encourage and lift us up.

Where are thine accusers? Don’t accept condemnation from anyone. Condemnation leads to guilt. Conviction leads to life change. God will warn you if you are heading the wrong direction. He won’t condemn you for it. He leaves the choice up to you. Never allow yourself to feel condemned. There is no condemnation. You are “in Christ.” That’s where you can feel safe.
