Crowned With Glory and Honor

sky

“For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.” (Psalm 8:5)

David is talking about man. He was amazed that God even has time to consider little ol’ man down here on the earth. He was also amazed at the position God has for him here.

First, God made him a little lower than the angels are. I guess the translators were scared to translate the word angels properly. This is the only time they did this. It is the word “ʾelōhîm in Hebrew or God in the English. Man was made a little lower than God.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…” (Genesis 1:26)

God has made us  in His image—like Him. The word has meanings such as, statue, copy, and image. It is in the sense of essential nature of God, His attributes and character.

Then He crowned us with glory and honor. He has put a crown of splendor on our heads and a medallion of honor around our necks. These are accessories reserved for a king. Oh wait, Revelation 1:6 says we are kings. “And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”

God prophesied it in Psalms and fulfilled through Jesus. He has crowned us with glory and honor. We are kings. So when you are feeling little and insignificant, just remember you were made in the likeness of God and crowned with glory and honor. You rule and reign as a king to God. It’s all to His glory all that you are. You are not insignificant to God but a king.
