God’s Sleep Aid

clouds

“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.” (Psalm 4:8)

Do you have a hard time going to sleep? Do you have a difficult time staying asleep? Almost sounds like a commercial for a sleep aid, doesn’t it? However, the Word has a sleep aid as well.

Many people go to bed anxious about something going on in their lives. Maybe it’s a financial matter—a bill that needs paid. Others are troubled by relationship problems caused by relatives, kids, friends, or spouses. “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life…” (Matthew 6:25)

Peace is a gift. “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27) Jesus said I give you my peace. What He gives, receive.

Some people fear for their safety. This verse, however, is a promise of God’s safety. Peace comes from knowing you are safe. You are safe in the arms of Jesus.

So when you lay down to sleep, thank the Lord for His peace and safety that surrounds you. Thank Him for sleep. Sleep is a precious gift. It helps renew the body and give you energy and strength for the day ahead.

Make the confession, “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep.” Thank you Lord for sweet sleep.
