If Jesus Starts It, He Will Finish It

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:6 (KJV)

Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ:  Philippians 1:6 (NKJV)

This is a picture of grace. Jesus begins the work in you and He finishes it. Too many times Jesus starts a good work in us and we try to complete it. The results? You guessed it.

One definition of grace is God’s ability. It’s flesh to think we can do it in our ability. Only God can begin and only God can complete.

Jesus said it like this. “29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:29-30) Jesus told us to yoke up with Him. Let Him pull the load. He can go from start to finish.

Have you felt like you aren’t getting anywhere? Maybe you’ve slipped out of the yoke. Maybe you are trying to complete something that Jesus is to do. Wouldn’t it be easier to let Him finish something He started?

So be reminded that what Jesus has started in you, He will finish it and it will be done right. Just go along for the ride.
