Prophesy of the First Coming of Jesus

“Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.” (Psalm 14:7)

Here David sees the turmoil around him and how there isn’t one good person. Everyone, he says, has gone astray. How he longed for a savior.

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12) It took about 1000 years between David’s cry for a savior until Jesus came on the earth. Jesus is our salvation.

“Soteria,” the Greek for salvation means more than rescue from hell. The word means rescue, preservation, deliverance, health, salvation, prosperity, and redemption. Salvation was provided through the atonement or sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Salvation is for everyone, but not everyone will accept it. It’s a gift of God’s grace that must be received by faith.

On Mt. Sinai God gave the law. It could not save. It could only condemn. From Mt. Zion God gave His only begotten Son that whoever would believe on Him might have eternal life—salvation and all its many benefits.

David longed for it. We have received it. We are blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ…” (Ephesians 1:3)

It’s a done deal. We have it all.
