The Lord Lives

Gatlinburg Sunrise

Gatlinburg Sunrise

The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.” (Psalm 18:46)

We use to sing this song from Petra in our church worship. I love scripture songs and the Psalms provided a rich treasure of songs. Here is the chorus.

The Lord liveth and blessed be the Rock

And let the God of my salvation be exalted

The Lord liveth and blessed be the Rock

And let the God of my salvation be exalted

Music is a way through the soul to the heart. The heart is open to the Word and music just resonates with the Word in the heart. The heart is where we believe. That is from where we reach the world—through the heart of man.

That’s why we have to guard the heart. This is especially true in regards to music. Music can affect us emotionally, and emotions are a pathway to the heart.

I like this passage in Psalms because it shouts exaltation to God. He lives. He is not dead. He is not sleeping. He is alive. He lives in me.

He is my rock. He is my stability. He is the One on which I have built my house. (Matthew 7:24) Even when the ground shakes, or floods come Jesus is my rock. Nothing can move me.

He is my salvation. So I sing again this song of praise. I remember the Lord lives big in me. Praise ye the Lord.

(By the way Petra is doing their 40th anniversary tour this year.)
