Confidence

mountain dirt road-1

“Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear;
though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.”
Psalm 27:3

David dealt with wars, with evil on every side, yet he was a conqueror and victorious as he stood in the power of his God. His victory over Goliath is evident of that. But even in spite of a host coming against him, he was not afraid. You can imagine during Biblical times of war seeing the opposing army coming straight for you and your people, long lines with weapons drawn running with all their might. In the natural it would be daunting. But even in those times, David drew on the one resource he knew would never fail: God.

He relied on God’s power to enable him to overcome. He didn’t let fear attack and defeat him. He didn’t let rumors of war cripple his mind or ability to wage war. He knew he was strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. He knew he had the host of Heaven on his side as he lifted up the name of His Lord.

Whether a host encamping against him or war raging before him, he was confident in one thing which he stated in verse 1: ‘the Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?”

What enemy has come against you? What fear has the enemy tried to attack you with? Where do you stand—strongly confident in your Lord or weak and unable to defeat what lies before you?

Remember – God has NOT given you a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). That doesn’t describe a defeated believer. That doesn’t describe a believer who doesn’t know what to do. It describes who you can be, and are in your God – confident, strong, and overcoming. The Greater One lives BIG in you, so stand strong in Him.
