Don’t Knock My Foundation

Smoky Mountains-wide

“In the Lord I put my trust; how say you to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?” Psalm 11:1

This is an interesting verse and at first glance you probably just read right over it. Here David is telling what the unrighteous, the wicked people are doing against him. They’re trying to undergird his testimony, his life, and his foundation. They’re taunting him by saying ‘why don’t you just run the hide in the mountains.’

But what is David’s response? He asks them how they can say that to his soul. Their words are like arrows or darts that hit his mind, his thoughts, and if he left them unattended and allowed them to enter his heart, he’d soon be operating in worry and fear. BUT, he doesn’t allow their words entrance.

He declares to anyone coming against him that it is IN THE LORD that he puts HIS TRUST. He doesn’t fear what the enemy will do. God is greater. He doesn’t worry about their attacks. God is his judge and his righteousness.

He basically tells them ‘hey, quit knocking my foundation because my foundation is sure and strong, and I won’t be moved away from it. I trust the Lord God Almighty.’

Today you are bombarded many times on all sides by those who want to knock your foundation and cause you to stumble. The world is not for you, but Jesus is. God is on your side and with Him you outnumber those against you. That’s a pretty strong foundation.

Stand strong in your foundation in the Lord. He will fight your battles for you as you trust Him and rest in His grace.
