God Will Wipe Away All Tears

tears 700x400

weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5)

Tragedy’s around world come right into our homes every day. We watch people sifting through what’s left of their houses after a storm or fire. They are thankful for their life, but they have lost everything. They weep. We see the loss of a loved one through a senseless shooting or a bad traffic accident. The survivors weep. I’m sure if you’ve lived very long you will have times of weeping. Maybe it was just your favorite pet who died. But you weep.

The shortest verse in the Bible reminds us that even “Jesus wept.” (John 11:35)

Timothy must have wept when Paul had to leave. “Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy.” (2 Timothy 1:4) Paul remembered those tears.

Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?” (Psalm 56:8)

God created this emotion to grieve over loss. He made tears to drip from the eyes, when sorrow overwhelms. It’s natural to cry. That’s why God doesn’t leave us to weep that way.

It’s also natural to have tears of joy. Weeping should be short-lived. When grieving goes too long it is unhealthy and can lead to depression. God says the weeping may last a night or a few nights, but joy will come in the morning. ”For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities…” (Hebrews 4:15) Jesus cares. Look to Jesus for your joy in the situation. You faith will bring you through the times of weeping. Don’t let those times linger too long. Many saints throughout the ages have taken great solace in the faith.

And one day there will be no more weeping. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Refrain: It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
