Romans 8:39 – In Christ Jesus

Romans 8-39 700x400

“38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God,  which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)

This is a powerful statement. This is something we really have to digest and make a major part of our lives. Nothing can separate us from the love in Christ.

If you read the list in these two verses, you are going to see that is covers everything a person might think could separate us. This includes all the things we think we could do to provoke Him to turn His back on us. It just isn’t going to happen to a select group—those in Christ.

None of this is because of our good performance. It’s all about God’s love for us. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 NKJV) It’s all about the love of God. He SO loved us. Again, in Romans, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 NKJV)

If God so loved us that He was willing to give His only begotten Son then that is powerful love. He first demonstrated that love through Jesus. We were all sinners and did not deserve anything good from God. However, He so loved us that He provided a way for us.

Since He first demonstrated that love through Jesus, the love of God, which is in Jesus is so strong and unbreakable that nothing can come between us. No matter what you do, it can’t cause God to turn His back. His love is greatest. (1 Corinthians 13:13) God is not mad at you. God does not leave you, ever. If you are in Christ, you have a permanent love relationship with Jesus.
