Satisfied In His Likeness

God hugging you-1-wide

“As for me, I will behold Your face in righteousness;
I will be satisfied when I awake, with Your likeness.”
Psalm 17:15

David begins this psalm with a prayer for protection—from his enemies, the wicked, and the works of men. He concludes with this verse, and his conclusion is one of great revelation.

As for me he begins. It doesn’t matter what anyone else decides, he’s going to keep following the Lord. As for me he will continue to look to God, His Righteousness; and in continuing to behold the God of Righteousness and Love, his likeness will be transformed and changed. He declares that when he awakes, he’ll be fully satisfied with God’s likeness in him.

The Psalmist doesn’t see himself differently than God sees him. He sees Himself IN his God. He sees God’s resemblance, His likeness in himself. He could SEE that because he had eyes of faith. He knew the promises of God and he received those by faith.

Today we can look back and see the fulfillment of God’s promises in the finished work of Jesus. Today you and I can see ourselves as God sees us: beloved, precious, and His children. We can see that through Jesus we are righteous before God, and that we look just like Jesus.

Don’t see yourself as falling short of God’s glory. See yourself in the beloved. See yourself righteous by Jesus’ blood. See yourself being transformed daily from glory to glory by God’s power working in you.

See yourself as God sees you and be satisfied.
