The Lord IS My Strength

Carrot Tree cafe

The Carrot Tree Café in Yorktown Virginia 2012

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.” (Psalm 28:7)

We live in tough times. I say that but think back 150 years when they had none of our high tech gadgets. That would be tough times. How could I get along without my PC? I guess each generation has their tough times. I was born during the war. Those were tough times. My parents went through the great depression. Those were tough times. I guess every generation has had to dig deep for the strength to endure.

They could all say as I do, that the Lord is my strength. One commentator said the Lord is my strength inwardly and the shield outwardly. Paul reminded us that, “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (2 Corinthians 12:9) God’s grace is our way of strength. No wonder our hearts rejoice and we sing praise to His name.

“…For the joy of the LORD is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10) And with that joy strengthening you, each day you will proclaim “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Philippians 4:13)

Call on the Lord when you need strength. When things are getting tough, rejoice in the Lord. Recall the good things He has done. Remember His grace and His words that His grace is all you need. The Lord is your strength when you have none.
