“For ye were dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”
Paul continues his emphasis to the Colossian church (and us) about the depth of our new life in Christ. He wants us to get the picture of WHO we are NOW. This correlates with Galatians 2:20 that we have been crucified with Christ but we no longer live but Christ lives IN us. Since we’ve been resurrected to new life (born again), our old life is dead, gone and buried; and now our new life is hid with Christ.
God’s no longer mad at us—at you—nor does He hold your sins against you because you’re covered under the blood of Jesus that has made eternal restitution for your sin. Therefore, you are hidden with Christ. If the devil looks at you, he can’t tell the difference between you and Jesus. Your life is hidden.
You’re a new you! Therefore, you should act like a new you. Here is where your mind must be renewed by the Word to your new life. You can’t keep thinking and acting the old way since that way is dead and gone. In order to truly live in this new life, you must transform your thinking—change your mind—and live according to your new life which is a life of grace, of God’s fullness and joy.
Continue meditating on this verse and the realization that your new life is hidden with Christ. You are IN Christ. The new you is being transformed into the likeness of God. That should give you something to shout about today.
