Ephesians 2:5 – Alive Together With Christ

Ephesians 2-5 700x400

“Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together
with Christ (by grace you are saved).”
Ephesians 2:5

Paul just began the second chapter of Ephesians with a bold statement: ‘those of you who were dead in sins, He’s made you alive’, and then in verse 5 reiterates this truth. He wants to make sure we understand our position as a child of God, not as a sinner. His statement sounds like he’s talking about a resurrection to me.

We had been in the position of a sinner before we came to know the saving power of Jesus Christ. But once we know Him, we are no longer in that position. We’ve been transformed. It’s also the message of Galatians 2:20 that says we died with Christ and yet we still live. We’ve been quickened— to make alive, to give life, to vitalize, revitalize;. That’s definitely a picture of resurrection life. But there’s more…

EVEN WHEN Paul says to the Ephesians. EVEN WHEN you were away from Christ. EVEN WHEN you weren’t thinking of Him. EVEN WHEN … even at THAT point, God provided new life, a revitalization of His life in you through Jesus Christ.

God’s plan had been for YOU to know Him and to be transformed, made alive, revitalized by the finished work of His Son. It was a done deal from the beginning.

It’s time to step into the revitalized life He has for you. You’ve been made alive with Christ.

EVEN WHEN is right now. Today. You’re alive in Him.
