The Rhythms of God’s Grace

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to Me. Get away with Me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take real rest. Walk with Me and work with Me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with Me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30, The Message

Ocean waves flow in succinct rhythm, always flowing gracefully, unforced, and easily over tumultuous ups and downs.

What a wonderful picture of God’s Grace in our lives, and learning to flow in that Grace, easily, without effort, learning and following His rhythms.

How do you get there? Simply by spending time with Him and in His Word. The more you get to know the Creator of Grace, the more you’ll flow in His Grace. You can’t force the rhythms of grace in your life. You are to flow. Flow means following what He says and does, cooperating with Him as He leads you over and through life, always flowing in His power and love, gracefully and without your own efforts.

Flowing in His Grace is a walk, a movement of rest. That may sound strange at first because walk is an action word denoting movement. Rest is a quiet word most of the time denoting no movement. Yet, in the spiritual realm our rest is active because we are confidently based in Christ’s finished work and our faith actively rests in that. It’s at this point that you can then learn more of the unforced rhythms of His Grace.

The adventure is just beginning as you allow Him to minister the unforced rhythms of His grace in your life.
