2 Corinthians 2:14 – Lead in Triumph

2 cor 2-14 700x400

But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place.”
(2 Corinthians 2:14 NASB)

Paul may very well have reference to the Roman spectacles of the generals leading a triumphal march through the streets in celebration of the defeat of their enemies. Maybe he saw that and the Holy Spirit gave him the picture of Christ leading us in triumph.

I like the way King James says it. For those in Christ, “always causeth us to triumph.” We have the promise here that God always, at all times, everywhere, and forever makes us  conquerors. Paul says in Romans 8:37, that we are more than conquerors.

You may be going through some tough times. You can complain, grumble, and protest but you won’t see yourself as the conqueror you are in Christ. Rather you should be as Paul giving thanks to God that even though the battle is not going good, He always leads you into victory.

Moreover, we are a sweet aroma of Him wherever we go. We have a couple of Scentsy candles in our house. They give off a beautiful fragrance. Depending on the scent we put in it, we get all sorts of lovely aromas. We are like that to the world. It’s the sweet smell of victory. I like a cinnamon scent. So that what I am. I’m a sweet cinnamon fragrance to the world. This sweet smell is the knowledge of Jesus in every place I go.

Therefore, thanks be to God. He is leading us daily into victory and we are sweet aromas to the world. Remember this verse. The next time you are facing difficulty instead of complaining just say, “I thank you God, because I know you are leading me in triumph, through Christ.”
