Blessed Out Of Trouble

“Blessed is he that considers the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.
The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he shall be blessed upon
the earth: and You will not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.”
Psalm 41:1-2

There is something about helping those who cannot help themselves that moves God’s heart to action. God considers the poor, whether they be poor by man’s monetary standards or poor in provisions and health. His eye searches them out and many times will tap the shoulder of a believer to consider the poor and reach out and minister to them.

Jesus brought light and life to people. He didn’t turn anyone away from His earthly ministry when they had a need. He didn’t consider their religious view or belief. He didn’t consider their sin, and He certainly never considered condemning them. He presented His love to them and they could accept it or reject it. I dare say it was more the religious folks who rejected His love and His gospel. Those who were poor, condemned, accused, or forsaken embraced the God of Love in their midst.

What happened to them as a result? They in turn touched others with God’s truth, and God delivered them out of times of trouble. Look at the woman caught in adultery. The religious folks were ready to stone her and condemn her and when Jesus presented God’s point of view, He told her He didn’t condemn her. He basically told her to leave the time of trouble behind her and live a new life in Him. She was transformed by His love because He considered her.

Be aware of times and opportunities when you can consider the poor, and they need not be poor in material possessions or necessarily the homeless. They may very well be those who haven’t heard or received God’s message of love and acceptance. Consider and reach out to those and God will indeed bless, preserve, and increase you.
