The Foolish Heart

Boston in the clouds and sun-wide

“The fool has said in his heart, There is no God…”
Psalm 53:1

What a sad statement, yet everyday people turn their backs on God and turn their noses up at Him. They refuse to see their own dilemma—trying to justify their actions with their own justice while not seeing the truth that is smack in front of their faces.

The fool has said there is no God: ‘there is no one to look up to, so it’s all on ME’. The fool will continue to believe he is his own god until he gets to the end of himself. The meaning of the word ‘fool’ in Hebrew means wicked, vile, or stupid. Most of the time we don’t refer to the foolish as stupid, but I guess if you spoke Hebrew, you could say it with justification in the meaning of that word.

Whenever man refuses to allow God into his life or help him, he is foolish. What is worse is the fool has already set it in his heart to believe it’s foolishness to depend on God, even to the point of feeling it’s stupid to believe in God. We saw before that what is in the hearts in abundance will not only come out what is spoken, but it clearly reveals where the thinking is…I dare say, in the gutter of foolishness.

Let’s not turn our backs on the foolish but look for ways to share the love of God with them and pray for their hearts to be open so they can truly see that God is for them, not against them.
