The Power Is Within

God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.”
(Psalm 62:11)

God told David twice that the power belongs to God. I don’t know if he didn’t learn it the first time or God repeated it to indicate its importance to David. David was a mighty fighting man. God anointed David to a place of King, a place of great power. God reminded David that God could just as easily remove him. God’s power enabled David to do what he did.

I was lying in bed in the early morning not long ago and out of the “blue” (pun intended) God impressed me with the thought “The power is within you.” “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” (Ephesians 6:10)

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

God is the power generator. We are distribution channels. The power is within us to accomplish all that He said we could do. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Philippians 4:13)

I don’t know much about physics, but I suspect that God created all power in the universe. Light for example, created by God. The power of the oceans, created by God. The power in nuclear energy, created by God.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” (John 14:12) Jesus said we could do greater works because He was going to the Father. In another place, He says I must go so the Holy Spirit could come. He is the power of God in us to accomplish greater works.

We already have the power. We don’t have to pray and beg. We don’t have to wait for the power to fall on us. It is within us. It’s any power we inherently possess but it is God within, doing the works. The power belongeth to God.
