All Is Well

watchman pic“So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house
of Israel; therefore
thou shalt hear the word at my mouth,
and warn [admonish, teach] them from me.”
Ezekiel 33:7

I read another devotional thought the other day and a phrase struck me and got me to thinking. It was a reminder to put a watch on our mouths because too many times we can let un-faith, un-grace, un-love words flow from our mouths to those around us, when what we really should be sharing is God’s love.

Immediately I had a picture of the old European night watchmen who would walk through the city lighting the street lights each night and usually calling out that ‘all is well’. If people woke up to hear those words, they could go right back to sleep because they knew everything was fine and that there wasn’t any danger around.

God told Ezekiel that he was a watchman for Israel to share God’s Word with them; and at that time it was a word of warning (Ezekiel 33:1-7). It was the watchman’s duty to watch, and as necessary, to blow the horn, and sound an alarm if needed.

Even when the Pilgrims and early settlers arrived in this country, they continued a night watch in their settlements and towns; in fact, the City of Boston was the first settlement in the 13 colonies in 1631 to establish a night watch. I believe you and I have been called to be the spiritual voice of a watchman today in our country, in our world.

WE should be like those old Biblical watchmen, the early European watchmen, God’s watchmen. WE should be calling out to those around us: “All is well. Jesus isn’t mad at you. His Grace is available for you. His Grace is all you need. All is well.”

Wouldn’t that be a much better encouragement to hear than always wondering if God’s mad at you or will He answer your prayer(s)? All is well is a better message than saying God is far away and not interested in you. That is FAR FROM the truth because He sent Jesus to provide and give you not only eternal life but every good gift, every blessing He has (and His blessings don’t run out or expire).

Maybe it’s time for you to begin sharing a message with those around you that ALL IS WELL because of what Jesus has done for them. Be motivated by His Love as you share the good news of God’s Grace and Love, that indeed all is well.
