Ephesians 1:10 – All Things Are In Christ

Ephesians 1-10 700x400

Ephesians 1:7-10
“7In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His
grace
8which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, 9having made known
to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself,
10that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all
things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth–in Him.” (NKJV)

We are looking particularly at verse 10, but we need to see the context to understand verse 10. We have redemption, forgiveness, through His grace. We have wisdom and insight into His will. All these things God summed up in Christ.

“19For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; 20And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.” (Colossians 1:19-20)

“1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:1-4)

“For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.” (Acts 17:28)

Jesus is the mystery revealed. The Old Testament saints looked only at a mystery. The Old Testament spoke of Jesus in veiled terms. Now the whole of the mystery of God’s will throughout history is summed up in one word—Jesus.

Jesus is the Creator, the Savior, the Word incarnate, light and life. Everything we are to become is wrapped up in the finished work of Jesus. He now is our high Priest. Everything in heaven and on earth has been brought together in Him. We are participators because we are in Christ. Imagine the possibilities.
