“Thou art my portion, O Lord…”
Psalm 119:57
We’re continuing in our study of God’s provisions for us, and learning how the Lord is our portion.
The Lord provided Israel manna as they journeyed in the wilderness. It was heavenly food and gave them all that they needed for their physical lives. It came each morning and each morning they gathered it. It was their portion and provided everything essential that they needed.
God has always been a provider and continues to provide for you and I. The portion He provides is in no way small. It is the ‘more than enough’ portion; the cup that overflows portion; the boat-sinking portion.
The challenge before you today and the days following is to dig into God’s Word and discover for yourself everything that God has given you. He’s not mad at you. Through Jesus Christ you’ve been reconciled back to fellowship and family with God. And, on top of that He gave you Jesus as your portion. Everything God is, is seen in Jesus. So when you say the Lord is your portion, you’re saying the God of Creation, God Almighty, is ALL that you need to live this life in joy, fullness, and peace.
David puts it this way: “…but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever.”
If you’re not familiar with all that God has provided in Jesus, read Jack’s articles on the “In Christ” scriptures. Dig into God’s Word. Your portion, and MORE, is in God’s Word; but it won’t become a reality in your life until you take it as YOURS. Your cup won’t run dry because He will continually fill it up. Be ready to receive more than enough of God’s abundant blessings and grace.
Make God’s wonderful provisions be your portion. And, you can have as much of Him as you want!
