Acts 10:43 – Remission of Sins in Jesus

Acts 10-43 700x400

Acts 10:43
43 To him give all the prophets witness,
that through his name [Jesus] whosoever believeth in him
shall receive remission of sins.

This verse is from Peter’s sermon to Cornelius and all who gathered with him as he proclaimed the gospel to them. He told them the basic truth that through believing in the name of Jesus they could receive remission of sins.

It’s through Jesus we have pardon, deliverance, forgiveness, liberty, and remission of sin. He finished the work. All sins have been forgiven once and for all. In the Old Covenant, they had to sacrifice yearly for the temporary forgiveness of sins. In the New Covenant, Jesus is the final sacrifice for sins for all time.

If He is the final sacrifice, then all sin has been forgiven. If you sin today, it has been forgiven. If you sin next week it has been forgiven. Jesus took care of the sin problem. We are dead to sin (Romans 6:2, 11). We are no longer servants to sin (Romans 6:16-17). We don’t have that old man sin nature because we are new creations in Christ.

The prophets of the Old Testament had prophesied this. “He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities” (Isaiah 53:11). “Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David” (Isaiah 55:3). “For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee” (Isaiah 54:9). “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call” (Joel 2:32).

If you have believed in the name of Jesus, you have complete forgiveness of sins. It’s a done deal.
