1 Corinthians 1:5 – You Are Enriched by Him

1 cor 1-5 700x400
1 Corinthians 1:5
That in every thing ye are enriched by Him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge.

This is an exciting verse, and the more you meditate on it, you’ll gain greater revelation and understanding of God’s power working in you.

Paul begins this first letter to the Church in Corinth with his greetings and blessings. Verse 5 ties in to what he said in verse 4 where he states he is thankful for the grace of God which was given to them by Jesus Christ. He then builds in verse 5 on several things that are included in God’s grace.

God’s grace enriches you. Paul says that in every thing you are enriched by Him. As I read this scripture I immediately had a picture of working in my little containers for flowers in the yard. I wanted to enrich the soil by mixing the dirt and other gardening aids for a healthy environment for the flowers. Our Georgia dirt is clay, a very hard soil. To provide the best environment for flowers and plants back here, you need to add top soil and fertilizer to allow them to thrive and be beautiful in a yard.

You are enriched by Him – by Jesus. See yourself as the soil. Jesus adds His ability, His power, His presence, His grace into you, thus making you enriched both by Him and through Him. When you know Jesus, you’re enriched. The Greek word for enriched means wealth, wealthy, rich. As a believer you have God’s wealth at your disposal. And this enrichment includes all that He has provided for you and in all areas of your life. Paul specifically mentions two references.

You are enriched – infused – in utterance. That includes speaking, speech, anything you communicate. You are also enriched in knowledge. The Greek word for knowledge is gnōsis  meaning to know, knowledge, science. God’s grace in you infuses you with God’s knowledge that is beyond natural, worldly knowledge obtained. You are infused with spiritual revelation as allow God’s grace to transform your thinking and renew your mind. It’s no longer you trying to make it with your limited abilities; you’re tapping into God’s ability, being enriched in every area of your life. Your walk with Jesus will be deeper and richer as you continue to be enriched by Him.
