Colossians 2:10 – Complete in Him

colossians 2-10 700x400

Colossians 2:10-11
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.

These two verses are interestingly combined by Paul. We talked about verse 9 the other day. In keeping with the King James translators pension for variety we lose a thought here. It could be translated “9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him” (ESV). We are filled with Jesus. What a statement!

I also like the word “complete” as well. We are complete, nothing missing and nothing lacking. It’s in the passive voice which means you are the recipient of the action. You have nothing to do but believe. Jesus was the fullness of God and you are in Him and thus are filled to the full. There is no half full or half empty here. It’s a full cup.

And the Word [Jesus] was made flesh, and dwelt among us … full of grace and truth. (John 1:14) Jesus came filled with grace and truth. Grace is Jesus and He is God’s favor toward us. What He did on the cross was something only He could do. It was God’s unmerited favor. He loved so much He intervened and sent Jesus to reconcile the world.

And of his [Jesus] fulness have all we received, and grace for grace” (John 1:16). Of His fullness we received. Not just to get us by, but to fill us to the full and overflowing. For every need He gave us His grace. We received grace upon grace or grace on top of grace. “And great grace was upon them all” (Acts 4:33).

We have the grace to take us through every situation. Whether you are dieting, have financial problems, relationship problems, or whatever, there is sufficient grace (2 Corinthians 12:9). We have everything we need for living here on this earth. It’s all supplied by the grace of God through Jesus. In Him we are complete. We lack nothing.

Once we see who we are in Christ, we see the riches of His grace for us. Grab this grace and go. Say, “I am complete in Jesus.”
